Send for signature

Use these steps to create a ShareFile signature request using an existing PDF or a reusable template.

For information about enabling electronic signatures, see Getting started.

  1. In your ShareFile account, select Signatures > Create signature request.

    Create a signature request

  2. Select Send for Signature.

    Select Send for Signature

  3. Under Document to send, select Browse files, then select the existing PDF from your computer or ShareFile account. To use a reusable template to create the signature request instead, select the template.

Browse files to select a document

    Note:

Flatten a PDF before uploading it if it contains fillable fields, 3D elements, or layers. Flattening preserves document content and field placement during processing. To flatten a PDF in Windows, open the original file, print it with Microsoft Print to PDF, and save the resulting copy.

  4. Enter the recipient's Name and Email. Select whether the recipient is a signer or viewer, then select Next Step.

    Add recipient information

  5. In Place fields, add, edit, or remove fields as needed. Select Next Step when you finish.

    Place fields in the document

  6. Review the document name and storage location. Add an optional message, expiration date, passcode, or knowledge-based authentication, then select Send signature request.

    Send the signature request
