Disable, delete, or redeploy a storage zone controller

Updated on Oct 26, 2026

To disable a storage zones controller

Note:

Use this procedure if each storage zones controller has a different external address.

Disable a storage zones controller before taking the server off-line for maintenance.

  1. In the ShareFile web interface, go to Account settings > Storage > StorageZones.
  2. Click the zone name and then click the storage zones controller host name.
  3. Clear the enabled check box and then click Save Changes.
  4. Restart the IIS server of all zone members.

To delete a storage zone controller

Deleting a storage zone controller (Storage Center) removes the registered server from the zone but does not delete the data or SCKeys.txt. If you are deleting a primary storage zone controller, demote it before continuing.

  1. In the ShareFile web interface, go to Account settings > Storage > StorageZones.

  2. Select the applicable zone.

  3. Under Storage Centers, click the host name for the Storage Center you want to delete.

  4. Select Delete Storage Center.

  5. Confirm the deletion.

  6. Restart the IIS server of all zone members.

Note: Deleting a Storage Center is different from deleting a storage zone. To remove the entire customer-managed storage zone and move any remaining files, see Delete a storage zone.

To redeploy a storage zones controller

No information is lost when you redeploy a storage zones controller.

  1. Uninstall storage zones from the server.
  2. In the ShareFile web interface, click Admin > Storage zones, and then select your zone. Do not delete the zone.
  3. Select the storage zones controller and delete it.
  4. Install storage zones. Do not register it yet.
  5. Run the storage zones controller configuration wizard to join the storage zones controller to a zone and complete the registration.
  6. Restart the IIS server of all zone members.
