Password requirements

You can configure the complexity requirements for ShareFile credentials.

To create other password requirements for your users:

  1. Navigate to Account settings.
  2. Select Security.
  3. Under Sign in Policy, go to Password requirements.
  4. Click Edit. The password requirements drawer opens.
  5. From the password requirements drawer, customize password complexity. Choose the desired values for:
    1. Minimum character length
    2. Numbers(s) required
    3. Special character(s) required
    4. Expiration - Enter number of days passwords expire after.
    5. History - Enter number of passwords before a password can repeat.
  6. Select Save to apply the changes.

By default, for all users passwords:

  • Must contain a minimum of 8 characters with a maximum number of 50 characters.
  • Must contain 1 upper case and 1 lower case letter.
  • Must contain at least 1 number.
  • Must contain at least 1 of these special characters: ! # $ % ^ & * ( ) - _ + = / . ? \ [ ] | ' ~ @ '
  • Password history is disabled.

NOTES:

  • Any changes you make go into effect the next time a user changes their password.

  • In response to an increase in internet-account credential (user name and password) theft, ShareFile might require a password reset and will continue to incorporate a regularly scheduled forced password reset into our normal operating procedures.

  • ShareFile performs an additional password strength check to identify commonly used and exposed passwords when you click Reset.
