Sign a document

You can open a signature request from an email or a form on a website. The signing process is the same.

Important:

Changes made to the original document after you sign it aren't included in the completed, returned document.

To sign a document:

  1. Open the signature request by selecting Review & Sign Document in your email or by opening the form on the website.

  2. Select Continue to agree to the ShareFile Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, and E-Sign Consent.

  3. Select Start signing to go to the first field.

  4. Choose whether to type or draw your signature.

    Note:

ShareFile uses your selected signature type for the remaining signature fields.

  5. Use the Fields section to check the status of required and optional fields.

  6. Use the Details section to review the following information:

    • Document name and ID: The document title and ID.
    • Sender: The name of the person requesting your signature.
    • Message from the sender: An optional message about the request.
    • Due date: The date the request expires if you don't submit it.
  7. At any time, select More actions to save your progress, Download original PDF, or decline to sign.

  8. When you're ready, select Submit.

    Note:

If you submit the document with optional fields incomplete, a confirmation dialog appears. Select Submit again to complete the request.

A Success! message appears briefly. You can then review or download the signed document.
