Access independent task files in ShareFile for Windows

ShareFile for Windows provides access to files associated with independent Request lists and Forms.

Tasks can be:

• Independent tasks: created and managed outside a project.
• Project-linked tasks: associated with a specific project.

Independent tasks appear in a virtual folder structure that mirrors the Tasks content in the ShareFile web application. You can browse task-related files from File Explorer without switching to the web application.

Create or manage independent tasks in ShareFile web

Use the following instructions to create and manage independent tasks using the ShareFile web application.

1. Sign in to the ShareFile web application.

2. From the left navigation menu, select Tasks.

3. Select Request lists or Forms.

4. Create a standalone Request list or standalone Form without associating it with a project.

   

5. To manage an existing task, open the Request list or Form, and then select the Attachments tab.

Access independent task files in ShareFile for Windows

After you create an independent Request list or Form, its associated files and folders become available in ShareFile for Windows. Use the following instructions to access the associated files and folders.

1. Open File Explorer.

2. Navigate to ShareFile (S:) > Tasks.

3. Open Request Lists or Forms.

4. Open the folder for the Request list or Form that you want to access. For example, open Tax and Financial Documents.

   

5. Browse the files and folders associated with the task.

   

   Note:

   If recently created or updated content does not appear, right-click inside the folder and select ShareFile > Refresh Content.
