ShareFile

Disable or Enable a ShareFile User

A disabled user cannot log in to the ShareFile web application, apps, or tools. They will still be listed in the Folder Access section of any folder they have been granted to, and any links or folder access they granted will remain active. A disabled employee user will continue to use an employee license on your account.

Note:

  • When a client or employee user is disabled, they will not receive any upload or download alerts.

  • If an account has been disabled, they can reach out to an Account Administrator to re-enable it as outlined here.

Requirements to disable (or enable) a user

  • Employee user with the Allow this user to manage employee users permission.

Disable a User

  1. People > Browse Employee/Client
  2. Browse or search for your user, then access the Manage icon located to the right of the user’s name and email address to view the user’s profile page.
  3. In the Actions menu on the right, select the Disable User option.
  4. After confirming that you do want to disable this user, the user will be disabled from ShareFile. This will be indicated in the Manage Users section with a disabled icon and the user’s information grayed out.
  5. The user will be unable to log in to their ShareFile account.

Enable a User

  1. People > Browse Employee/Client
  2. Browse or search for your user, then access the Manage icon located to the right of the user’s name and email address.
  3. In the Actions menu on the right, select the Enable User option.
  4. Because disabling the user did not remove them from any folder access, no further steps are needed to allow them to access the files and folders they have been granted access to.
