Sign a document
Electronic signtaure requests might come from an email or embedded in a form you fill out on a website. The signing process is the same.
Important:
If edits are made to the original document after it is signed, the edited document will not display the changes once the signed document is completed and returned.
Instructions on signing a document
The following instructions explain the process of signing a document.

Open the document by selecting Review & Sign Document in your email or from an online form in your browser.

Select Continue to agree to the ShareFile Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, and E-Sign Consent.

Select Start signing to be taken to the first field of the document.

For signature, you have the option to type or draw the signature.

Note:
Your selected signature type will autofill as you continue the signature request flow.

Use the required field tracker to manage your progress through the document.

You can use the Field section to see the status of the required and optional fields to fill out.

Use the Details section to review the following:
- Document name and ID - Dcoument title and ID information.
- Sender - Name of the person requesting the signature.
- Message from the sender - Optional message regarding the signature request.
- Due date - The date the signature request is due. If not completed and submitted before this date, the request will expire.

At any point during the signing process, you can select More actions to Save progress, Download original PDF, or Decline to sign the document.

Select Submit when you have completed the signature request.

Note:
If you submit the document before you completed all of the optional fields, a confirmation popup displays. Select Submit once more to complete the signature request.

A Success! confirmation displays briefly and you have the option to review the signed document or download the document.
