Password requirements
You can configure the complexity requirements for ShareFile credentials.
By default, for all users passwords:
- Must contain a minimum of 8 characters with a maximum number of 50 characters.
- Must contain 1 upper case and 1 lower case letter.
- Must contain at least 1 number.
- Must contain at least 1 of these special characters: !
# $ % ^ & * ( ) - _ + = / . ? \ [ ] | ' ~ @ '
- Can’t be the same as their last 25 passwords.
Customize password requirements
To create other password requirements for your users:
- Navigate to Settings > Admin Settings > Security > Sign in Policy > Password requirements.
-
Click Edit:
-
Customize complexity. Choose the desired values for:
- Minimum character length
- Numbers(s) required
- Special character(s) required
- Expiration - Enter number of days passwords expire after.
-
History - Enter number of passwords before a password can repeat.
- Select Save.
Notes:
Any changes you make go into effect the next time a user changes their password.
In response to an increase in internet-account credential (user name and password) theft, ShareFile might require a password reset and will continue to incorporate a regularly scheduled forced password reset into our normal operating procedures.
