Data Migration Tool overview and installation

Use the Data Migration Tool to move large amounts of data from a local source to your ShareFile account. You can transfer data only or map Active Directory permissions to ShareFile personal or shared folders.

Before you begin

Make sure the computer hosting your data has enough available storage space and that you have credentials for the source location and your ShareFile account.

Install the tool

1. Download the ShareFile Data Migration Tool installation file.

2. Run the installation file on the server or computer that hosts your data.

   Note:

   You must be an administrator on the computer to install the tool. The installer adds .NET Framework 4.6.2 or later if it is not already installed.

Sign in

1. Open the Data Migration Tool and sign in to your ShareFile account.

   

   • Enter your subdomain. For example, enter acme for acme.sharefile.com.
   • Select your company sign-in option if your account uses single sign-on. Otherwise, enter your ShareFile email address and password.
   • Complete two-factor authentication when prompted.
