FAQ - Legacy Request List Read-Only Mode and Transition to Document Request List (DRL)

  • Why are we depreciating Request List and when it’s happening?
    • Request List is being deprecated because it runs on outdated technology that limits improvements to performance, reliability, and security. We’ve built a new request list feature called Document Requests that delivers a modern, integrated experience with ongoing enhancements. The Request List will be retired on June 30, 2026.
  • What does “read-only” mode mean for my existing Request Lists?
    • All existing Request Lists will move into read-only mode before retirement of the feature.

      • You will be able to open, review, and work on your existing Request Lists.

      • You will NOT be able to create new requests.

The data remains available for reference and audit purposes. Shared links to existing Request Lists will still work for viewing.

  • Will my existing files and requests be deleted?
    • No. All your files, messages, and activity history will remain accessible. Nothing will be deleted or removed. All your Request List files stored in ShareFile Folders and will remain there.
  • How can I continue working with clients on request lists after the feature is depreciated?
    • You can use the new Projects. It offers an improved workflow for managing file requests, tracking status, and collaborating securely with clients.
  • Can I copy or migrate my old Request Lists to Document Requests?
    • There’s no automatic migration. You can manually recreate your active lists using Document Request templates or start new a list as needed. We recommend exporting key data from Request Lists before retirement.
  • What happens to permissions and client access during read-only mode?
    • Permissions in the Request List feature remain as they are for viewing. In Document Requests, are tied to Projects and offer more flexible sharing and role-based access control.
  • Will my clients still be able to upload files through Request List links during read-only mode?
    • Yes. Open requests can be finished during the “read-only” / creation-restricted phase.
  • Can I download or export my previous Request Lists?
    • You can download files from your Request Lists and make screenshots of status and details before the retire date, June 30, 2026, to keep local copies if needed.
  • What exactly would you recommend me to do before June 30, 2026?
    • Before the retire date, June 30, 2026, we recommend you:

      1. Confirm you have all necessary Request List uploaded files stored in ShareFile folders.
      2. Review closed Request Lists and make sure you no longer need the details of these lists. If you need any information from those lists, ensure you made screenshots and exports you need.
      3. Review all open Requests and make screenshots and export of all information that seems valuable to you. This includes Task Details, Comments & Activity, Assignee email, Request date, Due date, Uploaded date, Description, Category.
  • What are the main benefits of using the new request list functionality, Document Requests?
    • Document requests is a more advanced feature which offers enhanced functionality that includes:

      1. Specifying required documents from clients or team members
      2. Setting due dates and adding detailed instructions
      3. Enabling contextual conversations on requested documents
      4. Tracking submissions in a centralized dashboard
  • Who can I contact for help with the depreciation and learning more about Document Requests?
