Trumpet Publisher for ShareFile

Trumpet Publisher is a publishing tool designed for financial and law firms. It is part of the Trumpet Assemblage application. When connected to ShareFile, Trumpet Publisher automatically pushes client document directories to client-specific ShareFile folders, allowing firms to distribute report packages, compliance documents, and other client-facing materials securely without manual uploads.

The integration uses the ShareFile API to deliver content. No configuration is required in ShareFile beyond having an active account.

Prerequisites

Before setting up the integration, make sure you have the following:

  • A ShareFile account on any plan
  • An active Trumpet account and license (provided by Trumpet, Inc.)
  • A network drive accessible to all users who need the software, with sufficient disk capacity to hold all report package content
  • The Assemblage installer, provided by Trumpet, Inc. via email

Install and configure Trumpet Assemblage

Trumpet Publisher is included as part of the Assemblage application. To install it:

  1. Download the Assemblage installer provided by Trumpet, Inc. via email.
  2. Run the Installation Wizard and accept the Software License Agreement.
  3. Install Assemblage to a network drive accessible to all users who need the software (for example, X:\Assemblage). A dedicated network drive is not required.
  4. Launch the Assemblage executable (assemblage.exe) from the installation directory.
  5. If prompted, install the Java runtime. This is required once per workstation.
  6. Enter the license number provided by Trumpet, Inc.

Note:

Install Assemblage to a network drive, not a local drive. Installing locally prevents other users from accessing the application.

Set up database connections

Assemblage can connect to existing SQL databases to collate content for report packages. This step is optional and only required if your workflow uses database-driven content.

To set up a database connection in Assemblage, navigate to Tools > Preferences > Database connections and configure a Windows authenticated connection via JDBC.

Note:

If your SQL Server requires SSL encryption, append ssl=required to the JDBC connection URL. You can also specify user credentials directly in the connection string if needed.

Publish documents to ShareFile

Once Assemblage is installed and configured, use the following workflow each reporting period:

  1. Clear previous reporting period content from the Publisher In folder (X:\Assemblage\Workspace\Trumpet Publisher Project\Publisher In).
  2. Generate new content using a saved Batch Print Job or Saved Job in Presentation Studio. Generated content is automatically placed in the Publisher In folder.
  3. Trumpet Publisher picks up the content and pushes it to the corresponding client-specific ShareFile folders via the ShareFile API.

Note:

The file path for generated reports must match the path configured during initial setup. A mismatch prevents content from being published.

Common use cases

  • Automated client report distribution — Financial advisory firms generate periodic report packages (such as quarterly performance reports) and use Trumpet Publisher to automatically push them to client-specific ShareFile folders for secure retrieval.
  • Law firm document delivery — Law firms compile client document sets and deliver them to individual client ShareFile folders, ensuring organized and secure distribution.
  • Batch compliance publishing — Firms in regulated industries batch-generate and distribute compliance materials to multiple clients simultaneously.

Troubleshooting

Issue Resolution
Uploads fail after a long time Uploads that take longer than 18 hours may fail due to ShareFile API limitations. Split large packages into smaller batches if needed.
Content is not published Verify that the file path for generated reports matches the path configured during setup.
Database connection fails Check the JDBC connection URL format. If SSL is required by the SQL Server, append ssl=required to the connection URL.
Java runtime prompt on launch Java runtime must be installed once per workstation on first launch. Follow the prompt to install it.
